On the 7th of July 2008 a big explosion was heard. Pieces of concrete flew
in the neighbourhood and some reached the gardens of the houses nearby.
The municipal leaders had given the order to blow the bunker. Inspite of
the craftmanship of the demolition crew the blast was not a success.
This caused many reactions in the newpapers and by the civilian comities.
The order was withdrawn and now, 2012, there is still no plan for the
future of the bunker. Further demolition seems to be out of order.
Several foundations and former military specialists have written a report
stipulating the importance of this cold war inheritance and presenting
options for reuse.
