In the late 30-ties the Belgium army constructed a defenceline for Antwerp. Parts were made as a tankditch and the waterlevel was controlled by locks which could be controlled in lock bunkers.
Here you see the entrance and a bypass for the water.
The water levelling system is still in use.
The bunkers are impressive.
