Fort Regent was adopted by the Germans who built a 4.7 cm FPak 36 (t) into the old walls on top of the fort and three 3.7 cm Flak guns were placed on the higher grounds of the fort. The harbour was protected by 6 2 cm Flak guns on top of the air raid shelters and one 2 cm Flak Vierling gun on top of the Sk at the far end of Victoria Pier. A Verstärkungsamt (telephone repeater station) was erected at Trinity Road to strengthen the telephone signal to France.
