Parempuyre

Parempuyre was in fact the start of the western Landfront (Bo 01), but the bunkers for this strongpoint were never built. The western bank of the Gironde, at a place called Port de Grattequina, was used as a supply port for the U-boats. Before going to sea, they received the ammunition for the small guns in this harbor. The fuel was loaded in Port Verdon, which site is covered in the section Festung Gironde Süd.

This is one of the sunken ships which was used as a blockade.
