Throughout the ages the harbour of Lorient has played an important military role. Therefore, the French have built lots of fortresses around the city. Examples are Vauban forts at Port Louis, called Le Citadel and Le Fort Puns at Gavrês. These strategic positions were re-used by the Germans. On the Citadel ( Lo 360) two guncasemates 671 were placed. At Le Patis (Lo 109) we found a 676, 621 and one Sk for personnel. In the south, at Le Lohic (Lo 77) , a 667 is nicely integrated in the old fortresswall and has a 501, another 621 and a Sk hospital behind the "Gendarmerie". Highlight is the Sk for personnel in the harbour.
