Lock bunker, U-boat base

Mg cupola on top, 44 cm of high quality steel, type 40P8, Fl 7, built by Hörder Verein in 1938.

The doors for closing the road over the lock, are still present.

This lockdoor was destroyed in the "Raid on St Nazaire". The "Campbell" sailed through all early German defences and was parked on this door. Hours later it exploded and so the largest drydock in France was out of order.
