This battery belonged to the division artillery and was manned by 1./1716. The guns were 10 cm le.F.H.14/19 (t). The casemates are a mix of one 611, a 669 and 2 x 612. They protected the beaches of Ouistreham, also known as Sword beach.
This tobruk guards the main road to the battery.
On D-day the battery was attacked by the 9th Battalion of the 6th British Airborne Division, under command of Lt. Colonel Terence Otway. This action was not in Zanucks movie The Longest Day, probably because it was not a great allied success.
