le Grand Bé

This was the M.S.B. Grand Bé, Ra 276. The 10,5 cm SKL/40 guns were mounted in bunkertype M 158. They were reported operational in the summer of 1942. From 1943 the battery was manned by 2./M.A.A. 608. In 44 the construction of the hoods over the open emplacements started. These works were finished in May 44. During the battle for St Malo these hoods prevented firing of the guns at the allies that approached over land. The hoods were partial demolished to get the guns out. This made actual participation in the battle possible. Allied artillery and air attacks caused heavy damage. Just before the allies set foot on Grand Bé, the guns were destroyed by the Germans.
