Seefront

Typical for St Malo is the fact that there was no big German naval base. The harbour was not suited for major vessels. The naval coastal batteries were on the islands of Cézembre and le Grand Bé. Most strongpoints in the Seefront are army (infantry) based, protecting harbour and river entrances, beaches and inland going roads.
