In the Westwall the 738P3 plate was used for the 505. It had two Schartes
which were seperated by a steel bar.
The Schartes were smooth.
One example in a 505 in the Spichernstellung near Saarbrücken has been
modified so it could be used for a 5 or 7.5cm PAK in 1944.
One big Scharte has been burned out of the plate. Unfortunately you can't
see the original construction anymore.

In the Atlantikwall a combination of plates was used for the 505.
The Schartes partially crossed eachother and thus didn't have the steel bar.
The gunbarrel could be moved without moving the complete gun.
The complete combination had a weight of 18 t, a total thickness of 200 mm and
Treppenschartes.
Observation was possible with regular binoculars through a slit.
